Polocrosse players headed to Bony Mountain

IF YOU see a float, truck or gooseneck with horses in the next day or so on the Darling Downs, the odds are players will be on the way to the Bony Mountain Recreation Reserve for the annual Queensland Polocrosse Club Championships.

Seventy seven teams will play in the carnival which will double as 60th anniversary celebrations for the host club, Cunningham.

Cunningham club secretary Robyn Cooper said more than 50 volunteers and club members would help out with running the carnival.

"There are already players from Tambo and Calliope at the grounds and I expect most will arrive between 10am and 6pm Thursday," Cooper said.

Australian World Cup player Lauren Cant will play in the Cunningham open team this weekend in combination with the Sillitoe brothers, Chris and Aaron, the O'Leary brothers, Josh and Zac, and Leon Sticklen.

Cooper said the same combination played in the Rosebowl carnival in Warwick a fortnight ago and won the A-grade competition.

Cunningham will field three open, three mixed and two junior teams this weekend. Play starts Friday to Sunday at 8am with functions on Friday and Saturday nights
