Pontiacs from as far as Adelaide to Warwick
MOTORSPORT: Victoria Park will be a hive of activity on Saturday when the Pontiac Nationals hold their Pontiac Feature Car Show in Warwick.
Organiser Chris Malone said the Pontiac Nationals this weekend were certain to be the biggest meeting of the car brand in Queensland.
"The perfect weather is set to encourage a lot of visitors from Brisbane and surrounding areas,” Malone said.
"I am expecting between 130 and 140 Pontiacs in Warwick on Saturday for the car show between 10pm and 1pm at Victoria Park.
"Members of the public are welcome to inspect the cars and talk to the owners. Food vendors and trade vans will be on site.”
Peter Mallett will drive a 1967 Pontiac from Hahndorf in South Australia to Warwick.
The first large group to arrive will be the New South Wales contingent of 25 today. There are 10 Pontiacs being driven from Victoria, two from Cairns and one from Townsville but the majority are from south-east Queensland.
The cars will be at Morgan Park Raceway for a car show from 9am Sunday, the 10am parade and racing on the short circuit at 11am-1pm.
Malone said he expected 20 of the Pontiacs would compete in the race meeting at Morgan Park.
Free admission to the car show in Victoria Park with Sunday admission $10 per carload.
