Pony club riders compete in state champs at Beaudesert

ZONE 21 representative Tom Keable was one of the stars at the annual Pony Club Jumping Equitation and Showjumping State Championships at Beaudesert.

The rider from Killarney was competing in his first state championships.

He was one of six to qualify from a zone that goes from Killarney to Texas.

Warwick member Sarah Stewart won the 21-26 years age group.

Angela Krahe and Grace McLachlan from the Warwick club and Tom Keable competed in showjumping.

Warwick pair Leesa Eastwell (ninth) and Nikki Burraston (16th) were in jumping equitation.

The jumps in jumping equitation are at a lower height, but placings are determined by the quality of the ride in the eyes of the judges.

The competition was held over four days and attracted more than 200 riders.

The Warwick members returned to club competition on Sunday with their monthly rally.

The next rally is at the Warwick Showgrounds on May 12.
