ZONE 21 can claim to be the best in pony club mounted games in the state after winning two championships at Chinchilla on the middle weekend of the school holidays.

The State Mounted Games Championships attracted 31 junior teams and a smaller number of senior teams.

The Zone 21 A junior team of Warwick members, Selena Madsen, Ben Eastwell, Callum Miller and Amy Bradfield, and Nathan Brown, of Killarney, was victorious.

Sharon Whear coached the B team of Emily Bradfield, Leesa Eastwell, Tracey Madsen and Amy Whear, of the Warwick club, and Killarney rider Mikaela Brown to second in the state in juniors.

The zone 21 C team was made up of 10 to 12-year-olds and performed credibly against older opponents under coach Sandy Miller. The team comprised Joel Monckton, Grace McLauchlin, Holly Wickham and Kate Sexton from the Warwick club and Kara Brown, of Killarney.

Sue Bondfield was coach of the senior team which brought the winning rugs back to zone 21 with the team of Warwick members Tim Eastwell, Amy Barclay, Sarah Stewart, Tamara Bondfield and Emma Whear.

Warwick Pony Club publicity officer Karen Burraston said the friendship between the competitors was a major factor in their success.

"They have all gone through pony club together and show great team spirit," Burraston said.

Last weekend, Queensland teams competed in the nationals in Melbourne. The Queensland junior team was third and senior team fifth.
