Pool re-opens in time for school

KILLARNEY Swimming Pool lessee Shirley Bloomfield is pleased to have the Killarney Pool open again this week after being out of action for two weeks because of the recent flood.

It's great to get it back in order especially this week because the school started its swimming classes and these will not be interrupted.

Shirley said she was grateful to the community members and then Killarney QFRS Auxiliary members who rallied together after the water subsided to lend a hand to clean out the buildings with council and contractors coming in to clean out the pool.

Ms Bloomfield said unfortunately the little pool will remain closed for the rest of the season and there is still some of the grassed area fenced off because of the damage.

With six weeks left of the season the pool is open daily from 12 to 5pm with 5-6pm set aside for lap swimmers and it is also open from 6am for early morning lap swimmers.

Shirley said they were planning to put the inflatable up this Saturday to celebrate the pool being open again and will be holding a sausage sizzle on Saturday evening for the volunteers that helped clean up after the flood.
