Pools set to reopen on Monday
WATER babies and swimming enthusiasts will be able to make a splash at the Warwick Indoor Recreation and Aquatic Centre (WIRAC) on Monday with most of the pools reopening after maintenance.
A council spokeswoman said the learn-to-swim pool and the hydro pool were being filled yesterday afternoon with the 25m pool set to be topped up today.
"Rapid river repainting has to cure for 14 days so it won't be open on Monday," she said.
"The pools (except rapid river) will be open on Monday but temperatures may not be what they would normally be, as they take a while to heat up."
Work started on March 31, with WIRAC manager Don Warrener telling the Daily News the pools had to be drained to allow an overhaul of the sand filtration system for the first time since it was installed, in 1999.
"We'll also take the opportunity to do some regular maintenance in the pools, such as caulking the joints between the tiles, repainting non-slip areas and the inside of the rapid river pool," he said.
The gym remained open during the work.
