Popular carousel to return to Leslie Park
WHETHER you know it as the roundabout, the wizzy dizzy or the carousel, the iconic Leslie Park attraction has stirred up conversation this past week, with many park-goers wondering where it has gone.
Warwick residents have been worried about the future of the spinning wheel of fun when it disappeared from its decades-long home.
In its place is orange netting and questions about when – or if – it would return.
But the fears were unfounded and the council assures it will be back after a safety upgrade.
Southern Downs Regional Council community facilities manager Michael Bell said the popular attraction would be back in place before the month was out.
“A recent inspection of the playground at Leslie Park highlighted an issue with the soft fall,” they said.
“Consequently, the carousel has been temporarily removed from Leslie Park in preparation for the installation of new soft fall, which will provide a safer play environment for children using the playground.”
Installation of the soft fall is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 13.
Once the soft fall has been laid, the original carousel will be reinstated.
