Porkers sure to start favourites

THE Sandy Creek Pig Races are on again this weekend at the Sandy Creek Pub, just 10km from Warwick.

The cost of admission will raise money for Wheatvale State School and RACQ CareFlight, a charity providing medical airlifting services to regional communities across Australia.

Race co-ordinator Kevin Kiley said they hoped to improve on last year's donations.

"Last year we got almost $7000 for both charities so we hope we can beat that," he said.

Gates open at 1.30pm, with the races kicking off at 2.30 tomorrow afternoon.

"It'd be great to see a big turnout again," Kevin said.

Seven pigs will race in eight races, named for the races' local sponsors.

Mr Kiley would like to thank the event's various sponsors, including Noah's Thoroughbred Racing Pigs, McMahon Brothers, TFS Automotive, Ray Bunch Machinery, Team GMF and Allora Heavy Mechanical.

Head on down to the Sandy Creek Pub for a fun-filled family day out at the races.

When: 1.30pm, Saturday March 21

Where: Sandy Creek Pub, 345 Sandy Creek Rd

Tickets: $15 at the gate, or call ahead to get tickets for $10; free admission for children.

To book tickets call 4661 3413.
