Porter ready to rumble at drags this weekend

DRAG RACING: Scott Porter will be one of the drivers to watch in this weekend's Six Banger Nationals and bracket meeting at Warwick Dragway.

Porter has broken a national record with his six-cylinder and will cover the 200m drag strip in Warwick in just more than four seconds.

Warwick District Drag Racing Association vice-president John Loy said Porter was a regular at Morgan Park.

"We are expecting more than 150 nominations for the nationals and bracket meeting,” he said.

Some of the Southern Downs and Border competitors in the Six Banger Nationals will be Dale Lee, Matt Loy and Brittany Rigney.

Lee will drive a Holden, Matt will aim for his quickest pass in a VL Holden Commodore and Rigney will compete for the first time in a Toyota Corona.

Warwick driver Dennis Glanville will be in the Quick ET class in the bracket meeting.

One driver from Perth will be competing in the Six Banger Nationals.

After this weekend, the Warwick District Drag Racing Club will focus on the VW Warwick meeting on October 1-2 and Dragfest on October 15-16.
