Power options debated

DEBATE over the proposed new 110kV powerlines from Stanthorpe to Warwick continues.

The Community Reference Group (CRG) of 10 people has met on six occasions since they were selected, but there is still more work to be done.

Facilitator John Dengate said they had made progress, but things were progressing slower than originally anticipated.

"The group have been looking at information supplied by Ergon Energy about the reliability of supply and a need for an alternate power supply," Mr Dengate said.

"There has been some discussion about alternatives and the need for an alternate power supply.

"One new option is to upgrade so information about that has been supplied.

"Issues surrounding need, security of supply, and environmental and health impact will also be covered.

Mr Dengate said they were trying to make the process as open as possible.

"We meet each fortnight and meeting minutes and information can be found at powercrg.com.au," he said.

The CRG will meet again on Thursday.
