65 homes without power after powerlines fall down

UPDATE 4pm: About 65 homes in the Felton south area are without power after a truck reportedly hit a pole and knocked down two powerlines.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Toowoomba-Karara Rd, about 15km north of Leyburn, about 2.10pm this afternoon after reports one line had fallen.

Crews then reportedly found a second line down a short while later.

A spokesman from Ergon Energy said crews remained on the scene but it was unknown how long it would take to restore the power.

"If the pole needs to be replaced it will be several hours," he said.

The driver of the truck was not harmed in the crash.

INITIAL 2.30pm: Emergency services are on their way to Leyburn where powerlines have fallen down.

Crews were called to the scene on Toowoomba-Karara Rd about 2.19pm this afternoon.

A spokeswoman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said it was unknown whether the powerlines were blocking the road.
