Water problems go back decades

WATER quality has not just been plaguing Pratten these past few months - as one resident remembers he has watched brown water gush out of his tap for 20 years.

George Durieux, who moved to Warwick about three years ago, sent these photos to the Daily News.

He said they were taken outside his former home about 20 years ago, when fire officers needed to fill their water tank.

"They were checking the water before they put it in the truck but they didn't end up using it," he said.

"I don't remember exactly why but I think they didn't want to put it in their tank because it would get too dirty, but I'm not sure."

Mr Durieux said water had been a problem since he arrived at Pratten.

"In those days we were told (the colour) was a reaction from chlorine in the pipe," he said.

"We initially drank the water but got a ceramic filter and tank water."
