Pre-loved jewellery loved again
LOVERS of jewellery were treated to a glittering and colourful display of costume pieces as they flooded St Mark's Hall on Saturday morning.
The inaugural pre-loved jewellery sale was the idea of Friends of St Mark's member Gloria Brady.
Mrs Brady said she wanted a fundraising event with a difference for people to enjoy.
"I was overwhelmed by the generous donations received from members of the Anglican congregation and their friends which made this event possible," she said.
"The jewellery was priced reasonably to offer everyone the opportunity to purchase the already loved pieces, and to be once again worn and treasured."
A constant stream of buyers browsed the large assortment of jewellery with many buying up big, happy with the bargains they found.
Mrs Brady said this was reflected in the overall result.
"We were in awe of the money which was raised during the morning and couldn't have asked for a better turnout," she said.
"The best part is everyone who came seemed to enjoy it, with many staying on for Devonshire tea."
Profits from this fundraiser will go towards the ongoing maintenance of St Mark's Church, in the lead up to the church's 150th celebrations in 2018.
The ladies of the Friend's of St Mark's have a busy year ahead with the annual Anglican Fete in a couple of weeks and a luncheon, fashion parade and garage sale planned for later in the year.
