Newman to visit Gladstone for community cabinet at Clinton

PREMIER Campbell Newman will have a tight schedule when he jets into Gladstone for the state's ninth community cabinet on Sunday - and it will be even tighter if he detours through Kin Kora roundabout.

The Premier, along with his ministers, assistant ministers and director-generals, will provide a listening ear to members of the community at Clinton State School.

In two hours the ministers will see 126 deputations, or formal meetings, in Gladstone.

Representatives from GAPDL, Queensland Health, Gladstone Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Queensland Fire and Rescue Service have already locked in meetings.

On Wednesday Gladstone MP Liz Cunningham said she would like to see discussion about the Kin Kora roundabout, Calliope High School land sale and the Gladstone Hospital.

"I hope the ministers get the opportunity to see Kin Kora roundabout at its worst - during peak hour," Ms Cunningham said.

"We do have peak hour in Gladstone - eight o'clock, nine o'clock, three o'clock and five o'clock - and the queuing is significant."

Ms Cunningham said the State Government needed to make a commitment in relation to the Kin Kora roundabout capital works.

She also predicted parents would raise concerns about the Calliope High School land sale.

"Parents are concerned to see good educational opportunities, including the parents who want to see the Calliope site retained," she said.

Registrations for Gladstone's community cabinet will open at 2pm.

Formal meetings with ministers will begin at 3pm and conclude at 5pm.
