President hopes for more teams in the BRL

RUGBY LEAGUE: Norm Crisp has been re-elected president of the Border Rugby League for a second term and has his fingers crossed there will be more teams in the 2017 season.

Amanda Harrold is secretary, Kerry Shatte treasurer and John Towells vice president.

Crisp said the league definitely had four teams for next season with the possibility of more.

"Stanthorpe is fielding a men's team on their own next season,” Crisp said.

"There is talk at Texas about the Terriers fielding a team on their own next season and efforts are being made at Wallangarra to field a team.”

Crisp said he was keen to push for each club to also have a leaguetag team for the women.

"Inglewood didn't field a leaguetag team this season but believe they have the women to field a team in 2017,” he said.

"I am hoping that Killarney will be able to field a women's team after fielding a team in 2015.”

At the end of the 2016 season, Inglewood, Tenterfield, Killarney and a combined Stanthorpe/Texas team were playing in the BRL men's competition.
