Prices mixed as export buyers drop at Warwick Cattle Sale
PRICES were up and down at the Warwick Cattle Sale as export buyer attendance fell yesterday.
While some bullocks were up by 6c/kg, cows dropped to an average of 4 to 6 c/kg less.
Young cattle experienced strong support from feeder operators and restockers.
Trade cattle with lightweight lines were also dearer.
A combination of a decline in quality and less exporters in the buying panel resulted in cows not maintaining the prices of the previous sale to average 4c to 6c/kg less.
Calves returning to the paddock made to 333.2c to average 298c/kg.
Vealer steers also to restockers made to 338.2c, to average 327c/kg.
A small sample of vealer heifers to the trade made to 303.2c to 301c/kg.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 317c and made to 340c/kg.
Heavyweights to feed mostly sold in the 320c range with some to 334.2c, while local trade lines averaged 314c and made to 316.2c/kg.
Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers made to 301.2c with a fair sample around 290c/kg.
Medium weights to feed averaged 279c and local trade classes averaged 286c and made to 310c/kg.
Heavyweights also to the local trade market averaged 4c dearer at 295c and sold to 213.2c/kg.
Bullocks made to 315.2c to average 314c and plain condition full mouth bullocks averaged 281c/kg.
Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 220c, while good heavy cows averaged 261c with the occasional sale to 271.2c/kg.
Heavy bulls made to 285.2c/kg.
