Primed for spectacular
THE countdown to spring is on: While gardeners are itching to get their hands dirty, the hands of Warwick West State School children, parents and teachers are busy preparing for their annual Spring Spectacular Fete, to be held Friday, September 7.
Parents' and Citizens' Association President Tracy Vellacott said the annual fete was a case of many hands making light work.
"Our Spring Spectacular is the school's biggest fundraiser each year and, with two very wet and soggy fetes in 2010 and 2011, we are optimistic for blue skies in 2012," Mrs Vellacott said.
She said the fete was an opportunity to draw on strengths and expertise of parents, teachers and students, as well as the wealth and goodwill of the community.
"To keep things manageable, each class in the school is assigned a stall to operate," Mrs Vellacott said.
"By giving each class an area to run, it gives maximum opportunity for people to participate and also greater flexibility to enjoy the fete with the family," she said.
Principal Jason Callcott agreed and said the fete was a day when children and parents could enjoy some traditional fun together.
"With rides, food and entertainment, this is a day the kids look forward to all year and it also provides an important boost to the P&C's ongoing program of enhancements to the school facilities," Mr Callcott said.
Action for the 2.30-8.30pm fete will be spread throughout the oval and hall.
