Prop back for tough Cowboys game at Highfields ground
RUGBY LEAGUE: After a weekend off, the fourth-placed Warwick Cowboys A-grade side will head to Highfields on Sunday to play the Eagles.
Coach Phil Economidis is confident of making it two wins from two games against Highfields this season which would put the Cowboys in clear third or fourth place.
"We narrowly beat Highfields in the first round but I expect them to be tougher at their home ground,” Economidis said.
"Darren Pettiford is on holidays and Garry Ellery will come in at prop after starting off the bench in the past fortnight.”
The Cowboys will be without Queensland Cup five-eighth Dan Murphy who has been advised by his specialist not to play the rest of the season.
Economidis has signed Dave McGrady to play five-eighth and he will be in Warwick for his first training run with the Cowboys on Friday night.
"Dave has been playing at Mullumbimby in northern New South Wales and I have heard a lot a positive things about his ability,” he said.
McGrady is a nephew of former NRL players Ewan and Ricky McGrady and is a cousin to Valleys star Cory McGrady.
The A-grade side had a special training run on Saturday at Father Ranger Oval and had 13 of the squad members in work for 90 minutes.
The Cowboys are also without prop Josh O'Brien for six weeks with a knee injury.
"Both Josh and Darren have been getting better every week,” he said.
"After this weekend, we play premiers Dalby when we will be without our three under-20 representative players Mitch Watson, Harry Sullivan and Keiran Fender due to a game at Gympie.”
A grade at 2.30pm Sunday.
