Grassfire burning north of Warwick now contained

UPDATE: The fire raging near the Caltex servo was started by rural firefighters as a controlled burn this afternoon.

Neighbours complained the fire was extremely close to their homes and were concerned they (their homes) would be set alight.

IT is believed the fire was intended to be a controlled burn started by rural fire-fighters.

Two crews remain on the scene.

Homes are no longer under threat.

EARLIER: FIRE Crews are currently battling a grassfire near the Caltex servo on the Cunningham Highway north of Warwick.

It is understood a structure on the property is still under threat, with the fire having burnt about two acres with some spot fires still burning near the house.

The two rural crews on the scene almost have the fire under control.
