Pros on tour at Sandy Creek this month

MORE than 100 drivers will be at Sandy Creek Raceway on June 20-22 for the sixth round of the Rotax Pro Tour.

The round will be promoted by International Karting Distributors in conjunction with the Warwick Karting Club.

Series commentator/media manager Liam Meegan said the fifth round was held at Geelong in mid-May.

"The Geelong event was also the Jason Richards Memorial meeting in memory of a driver who competed in the DD2 category in 2010 before being diagnosed with cancer. He also drove V8 Supercars," Meegan said.

Drivers from New Zealand and all Australian states will be at Sandy Creek for the June meeting.

Practice will be on the Friday with qualifying and heats on the Saturday and all finals on the Sunday.

Nominations opened this week and close on June 11 and Meegan expects between 20 and 30 riders from Queensland, including some drivers from the Warwick club to be in the field of more than 100.

Racing will be in six categories.

There will be free admission all weekend to the Warwick round.

Volunteers welcome to help out club members at a working bee on Sunday and Monday at the karting track. Information from president Peter Lane 0418 740 021.
