Public invited into the lodge for open day

THE doors of the Masonic Lodge in Warwick were open to the public yesterday at the instigation of the St George's Lodge.

The 125th anniversary of the consecration of the building was on December 28 last year.

The St George's Lodge is even older and has met each month since 1871.

Director of ceremonies Stephen Bond said there had been an early rush of visitors with one member signed up by 10am.

"The St George's Lodge has 35 members, including some from Stanthorpe and one from Townsville. Three craft lodges meet at the Masonic Lodge as well as other orders," he said.

Mr Bond said the lodge was about personal development and helping the community.

"Some community groups use the Masonic Lodge facility at no charge," he said.

The St George's Lodge has made many donations to the community, including to Akooramak, Guide Dogs, Care

Flight, the Leukaemia Foundation and Cancer Council Queensland.

Mr Bond said education bursaries were also provided.

Prospective members are welcome to call Mr Bond on 0403 881 644.
