QBE denies plans to sack hundreds of workers
ONE of the largest insurance firms operating in Australia had no plans to sack hundreds of workers, a spokeswoman for QBE said today.
Her comments came after reports today (Mon) that as many as 700 workers - the majority in capital city operations - could be facing the sack at the insurance company.
But despite the company searching for a reduction in annual operating costs of more than $200 million in coming years, the spokeswoman said it would not be found in job cuts.
She said the cost-cutting would be achieved across every one of the 52 countries QBE operated in.
Any job cuts at the insurance company would be managed through a combination of natural staff turnover and staff redeployment, she said.
