QUEENSLAND Premier Campbell Newman wants Shadow Emergency Services Minister Bill Byrne to stop "scaremongering".

His call comes after Mr Byrne this week attacked the Newman Government, claiming it had failed to let the public know of plans to privatise government helicopter rescue and emergency services.

"It is disappointing, but not surprising, Mr Byrne is choosing to politicise this issue," Mr Newman said.

"He knows full well that the government will ensure frontline services are not adversely impacted by this review, and he should show more respect for locals by not scaremongering over it.

"The review will consider a range of options, and may find current operational arrangements are working well, but we owe it to the people of Queensland to look at these services closely.

"I can assure people that no services will be affected by the review and there will be no reduction in flying hours."
