Letters to the editor and Anzac bikkies

RECENTLY, I was pleasantly surprised to receive in the mail a gift of delectable Anzac biscuits from "Jill of Warwick". My many thanks to her for her kind thoughts, love and good wishes and I know many in my district are also thankful for the caring connection between our fellow Queenslanders. Also nice to know my gift was from someone from my old home stamping grounds. We have received good relief rain, thank God, but as it was storm and not general, has been patchy with some of our near neighbours missing out. My wishes for you Jill and your fellow cooks, are a very good season and a mild winter.

On the council's decision to remove a hire fee for park spaces...

Another backflip by councillors. Funny isn't it? Backlash from residents and the councillors run scared

Sadly, situations such as this will always occur when the staff making these new rules have no connection with our local community. From what I see, the decision makers now in the council are all "drive in-drive out" staff who think they can implement fees and charges in Warwick which may work in other states or on the coast. Well, their style of social engineering has now been proved wrong. Well done to the councillors for revoking these insidious fees. I look forward to some sense and relativity in the new Budget.

Thank you Hugh Ryan for pointing this out. You are correct in saying it is the STAFF who come up with these ideas and the councillors who then cop the flak from people who don't understand how things are done. I truly feel this bunch of councillors is trying to attain the best possible outcome for this region and I commend them.

Collected $3000? What did it cost in administration etc to collect? Is the objective extra revenue, or just more power to wield? The parks are our property. They are NOT that of our servants in the Council offices.
