Quest entrants to face judges

A CASINO-THEME cocktail party will be held for the first Warwick Rodeo Queen speech night.

The night, set to take place on October 10, will be held in the Douglas Feez Pavilion at the Warwick Showgrounds.

Quest organiser Kate Christensen said the Queens' speech was another element of judging.

"They will be interviewed on stage by me in front of the judges and crowd," she said. "They will then be asked to give a speech.

"The topic just released to the entrants was 'Warwick'."

Mrs Christensen said the entrants would be given the opportunity to give their own personalised perspective of Warwick.

"It's up to them as to which light they wish to speak on the topic," she said.

"They will be judged on their preparation, presentation, staying on topic, length of speech and confidence.

"The judges will also have the opportunity to ask them a number of questions."

Mrs Christensen said for the first time they would also be taking votes for a people's choice award.

"Anyone who attends the cocktail party has the opportunity to vote for who they believe should be the next queen," she said.

"A gold coin donation will need to be made to place each vote."

Entries for the quest officially close today, however late entries will be considered if Mrs Christensen or the show office is phoned directly.

Mrs Christensen encouraged more entries to help build the contest to be bigger and better than previous years.
