Quiet achiever is a winner in the golf
TIM Sutton's mates have been talking to him about the Warwick A-grade golf championship for the past two months and reckon he went into the championship with a bit of confidence.
The thing which surprised them was he went quiet in the past couple of weeks.
Last year, he took some time off before the championships but this year they tell me he was really focused.
Tim is one person who puts plenty back into sport. He is club captain for a second year as well as A-grade champion for the first time.
Sam Hinze won a ninth successive A-grade women's title and you would be hard pressed to find a more consistent golfer in country Queensland. She has won almost everything there is to win in the Downs and south-west region in the past three years.
Great work
HE might have been on a motorsport table but Don Campbell was giving me the cricket scores from the Third Test in India at the sports dinner at the RSL on Monday.
We were both amazed Australia saved the Test, with Peter Handscomb and Shaun Marsh batting out 397 balls between them as Australia scored 6-204 in 100 overs.
Interesting the two who saved the Test had horror tours up to that time. The big winners from a batting perspective are Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Renshaw, a Queensland opening batsman with a few similarities to Matt Hayden.
