Racing motorcyclists facing final challenge for cup
MORE than 50 riders will head to Morgan Park Raceway this weekend for the final round of the Challenge Cup.
The Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland hold eight meetings a year in Warwick, including the two rounds of the Challenge Cup.
Brisbane rider Callum Spriggs will be one of the leading contenders on a 600cc bike on Saturday and Sunday.
Seven sidecar riders have entered in separate races to the Challenge Cup.
Regular race secretary Rachelle Houterman said some of the 600cc bikes could match it with the 1000cc bikes.
"This weekend, all bikes will be in the one class and split up into groups of eight," she said.
Last month, the club held its final round of the Southern Downs Road Race Series with Brisbane rider Anthony Jones winning two classes and his younger brother Mike one class.
Mike missed the last round of the road race series as he was competing overseas.
The fastest class, Formula 1, was won by Plainland rider Nathan Houterman.
ROAD RACE SERIES WINNERS: Formula 1 - Nathan Houterman, Formula 2 - Mike Jones, Formula 3 and 4 Anthony Jones, Formula 5 -Dave Boughen / Tony Windle, Formula 6 - Mick Train, Motos - Tom Gardiner, Rookies - Benjamin Scott.
