Racing on short circuit

THERE will be 135 cars racing in the Short Circuit Motor Sport Association round at Morgan Park Raceway this weekend.

The event is round 2 of the Queensland/New South Wales Sprint and Short Circuit Challenge.

Drivers will come from as far as Tamworth, Dubbo, Lennox Heads and Sunshine Coast.

Warwick drivers who have nominated include Kieran Locke, Angela and Jason O'Mara, Rob Balint and son Chris.

Chris is one of the three juniors competing and will be in a Datsun Charade.

Some of the favourites for the events include Michael McMillan in the sprint and short circuit classes in a Mitsubishi Evo.

Event secretary Robyn Devine said all the races would be on the short circuit configuration which is 1.2km in distance.

"The track we will be using is one of the earliest sealed at Morgan Park Raceway," she said.

"The drivers really like the short circuit racing; it is just more fun with more laps."

Racing starts at 9am tomorrow and 8am Sunday.

Admission is free with the canteen open near the pit area.
