Racing to a good cause at Allman Park
WARWICK is getting ready to race. The third staging of the St Mary's raceday takes place on Saturday at Allman Park, and the weather gods appear to be smiling on the meeting, with a top of 33 degrees predicted.
Warwick Turf Club secretary Kristen Doyle said it was an anticipated day on their calendar.
"It was a good day last year, and although it was pretty warm, there was a great attendance,” she said.
"There is plenty of shade under the pavilion, as well as tables and chairs in the bar. It's a really family-oriented day.”
Gate takings from the day go towards the St Mary's School P and F.
There are plenty of on-course activities for the kids to sink their teeth into, with a magician, jumping castle, and tea-cup rides just some of the offerings. Families are also welcome to bring their picnic rug along and find a spot on the lawn.
For the big kids, there will be no shortage of bookmakers on track for the six-race TAB meeting, as well as on-course bars.
Fashions on the field will welcome in four categories for the day, with almost $1000 in prizes available for best dressed ladies, families, youths and juniors.
