Rain affects weekend sport

RAIN resulted in the Warwick District Drag Racing Association meeting at Warwick Dragway on Saturday being cancelled.

The First XV rugby union match between The Scots PGC College and Forest Lake College was played in rain which poured down during the final five minutes of play.

Players from both sides took advantage of the wet conditions and dived on the cricket pitch in centrefield after shaking hands following the full-time hooter.

Many junior rugby league games between Eastern Suburbs and Millwood were played in rain at St Mark's Oval on Saturday.

In the late afternoon, the rain stayed away for the Warwick rugby union and Redbacks AFL games as well as Saturday night hockey.

It was a little damp in the air at the 4.50pm hockey but that didn't stop Wyverns player Shannon Armbruster scoring three goals in the first half against Scots PGC.
