Rain eases cattle sell off at Warwick sale

RAIN over the past week has eased the sell off of cattle at the Warwick Saleyards, with the yarding dropping 17% at yesterday's sale.    A fair panel of buyers covering all classes was present and operating.   Restockers displayed less interest on the light weight yearling steers.   Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to fair demand to experience only quality related price changes.   Butchers and wholesalers provided very solid competition on local trade lines of yearling steers and heifers.   Cows continued to ease in price to lose a further 5c to 8c/kg.   Calves returning to the paddock made to 345.2c, with most around 303c/kg.   Vealer heifers generally sold around 297c, with some to local butchers reaching 320c/kg.   Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 327.2c, with a fair sample around 314c/kg.   Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 310.2c to average close to 304c/kg.   Heavy weights to feed made to 294.2c and averaged 285c/kg.   Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 279c and a good sample sold to the trade at 287c, with some to 305c/kg.   A few heavy grown steers averaged 269c and made to 270c/kg.   Medium weight 2 score cows average 181c and made to 186.2c/kg.   Good heavy cows made to 225.2c to average 216c/kg.   Heavy bulls made to 248c/kg.
