Rain enhances race day atmosphere

ARMSTRONG Park was littered with bogged shoes, fascinators and even a bus yesterday morning - a sure sign the Stanthorpe Cup was a resounding success.

There may not have been much racing action but the 2000 strong crowd wasn't going to let a massive storm get in the way of festivities.

Among an array of stunning outfits, Brooke Shatte and Sam Dowie took out the coveted best dressed couple prize in Fashions on the Field, with Brooke in a stunning orange fascinator and black dress.

Stanthorpe racegoers also met their Apple and Grape Harvest Festival young ambassadors for the first time, with six beauties introducing themselves to a packed crowd.

After the disappointing cancellation of last year's race meeting due to wild weather organisers were relieved race fans stuck around until the end, dancing in the mud to entertainment by band Push.
