Rain man a trustworthy gauge
THIS time last year nearly 300mm more rain had fallen on the Rose City in comparison to 2011 - but this year was still well above average thanks to January's downpours.
Warwick copped 834.6mm of rain this year, coming in ahead of the usual annual average to December - 705.6mm.
Warwick weather watchers Rex and Betty Baguley monitored each watering the Rose City received this year - as they had done for the previous few decades - and Mr Baguley said he thought the seasons were returning to normal.
Mrs Baguley said she gauged rainfall for the Bureau of Meteorology for 27 years and despite finishing up her official duties in 1994, she and her husband still recorded Rose City weather details.
"People are always interested in rainfall," she said.
For accuracy, they use a metal rain gauge set at a specific height before pouring it into a plastic beaker to measure it.
