Severe thunderstorm warning for the Darling Downs

UPDATE: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that the storms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours.

The next warning is due to be issued by 3.25pm.

EARLIER: Rain and thunderstorms are forecast to settle over Toowoomba and the Darling Downs tonight.

It is expected to be accompanied by a strong cold front.

The rain is tipped to reach Toowoomba by about 8pm.

Today, the temperature is expected to reach 29 degrees in Toowoomba, 32 in Dalby and 31 in Warwick.

It will be a steamy 35 degrees in Goondiwindi.

A severe fire danger warning remains in place for the Maranoa and Warrego districts.
