Rainfall down, temperatures up in Warwick
THOSE praying for rain in the Rose City across the final month of 2017 were left somewhat disappointed with the return.
December is historically Warwick's wettest month, with an average rainfall of 103.5mm over 31 days.
However the rain gods couldn't even provide half of that figure, as Warwick received just 51.4mm of rain, including 22.6mm from Christmas Day through to New Year's Eve.
Compared to last year it was an increase, with 34.8mm of rain dropping in 2016.
In terms of temperatures, the hottest day in the Rose City for the month came on December 20, when the mercury reached 37.6 degrees.
The low of 23 degrees on December was the only maximum lower than 27.4 degrees, as Warwick had just 13 days with a maximum below 30.
The average throughout December of 31.4 degrees is slightly lower than last year's figure, which reached 32.
This is an increase in the average maximum for the Rose City throughout the month, which is historically 29.2 degrees.
For the month ahead, the rain dances will continue, as residents hope they can receive the January average of 85.3mm of rain.
