Raise your cups for cancer fight
IF a teacup could tell a story, imagine what tales it could tell.
Plenty of Southern Downs residents will be having a cuppa for a cause as Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea events start cropping up to raise money for cancer research.
Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE Warwick campus will hold their morning tea tomorrow and want residents to come and support their worthy cause, with a teacup display the attraction of the day.
TAFE promotions officer Leanne de Toerkenczy said people could vote for their favourites by placing donations into the cups.
“We even have a teacup from the 18th century one of the ladies had – I tell you, if a teacup could tell a story,” Ms de Toerkenczy said.
“Whoever drank out of that teacup 100 years ago, I wonder what they were talking about?”
All proceeds from the morning will be donated to Cancer Council Queensland.
“Everyone has been touched by cancer and we’ve all had personal journeys too, so it’s just a great way to support the cause and also network with others,” Ms de Toerkenczy said.
“So come along with your families and friends and join us for a cuppa to help this great cause.”
When: Tomorrow, 10am – 11am.
Where: Horizons Restaurant, Warwick TAFE, Dragon St.
Cost: Gold coin donations plus espresso coffee will be available for sale at $1.50 provided by the SQIT hospitality students.
