Ratepayers to foot bill for damage

THE community will be left to foot the $13,000 bill for senseless vandalism to council property.

A council grader and roller were damaged by vandals at the beginning of the month, just off Foxbar Road at Pikedale. Staff discovered the damaged vehicles on Tuesday, November 2.

There was damage to side windows and a door handle as well as theft of UHF radios, 550 litres of fuel, tools, batteries, AM/FM radios, work lights, overhead console, wheel stops and a fire extinguisher.

A council spokeswoman said, though some time had passed since the vandalism, perhaps a member of the public might recall seeing something. The damage was reported and police investigat- ions are ongoing.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
