Rats' revival
WANTED - 22 committed players so the Warwick Water Rats can nominate in the Darling Downs B-grade comp.
Second rower Dave Young is one of the driving forces behind the push.
"We will make a submission to the Darling Downs Rugby Union about playing B grade," Young said.
He is definite the club is not eyeing off A grade, after withdrawing from the top competition last year.
"We would struggle for numbers in A grade but I believe we would be competitive in B grade.
"I don't understand how (in the past) Highfields could play B grade and not A grade but the Downs preferred us to play A grade."
President Ian Wallis said the parent body was keen for Warwick to play fixtures this season.
"There is a meeting in Toowoomba on February 11 which we will attend," Wallis said.
"John O'Leary, who has coached overseas, is organising a colts team so we are aiming for colts and B grade."
Halfback Rob Enright, who played on the Gold Coast, will play for the Water Rats and is organising recruits from the Granite Belt where he is a teacher.
Flanker Matt Waugh is eyeing off his third season for Warwick.
"I play for fun and fitness," he said.
Conrad van Kan wants Warwick in B grade.
"It is this or nothing for me this season. I haven't the time due to work commitments to travel to Toowoomba to play," van Kan said.
Players train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
