Rats women keep marching to the finals in sevens rugby
RUGBY UNION: The Warwick Water Rats won two games and lost one at the Gatton women's sevens carnival on Saturday.
In its first game, Warwick beat USQ 29-7 before beating Bears 7-0.
The final was played between the winners of each pool and Warwick went down 15-5 to Condamine.
Warwick coach Lauren Quinlan said she was proud of the efforts of her players.
"We are in equal third place on the Darling Downs sevens table and look set to make the finals,” she said.
"There were no standouts, the best thing our team has going for it is the support for each other.”
"We had 11 players at the weekend but have a squad of 16.”
Warwick will now host the last sevens carnival on August 5 before the finals. There will be at least seven women's sevens games at Risdon Oval during the carnival and the men's B-grade side will play St George.
TOP FOUR IN SEVENS: Bears 42, Condamine 42, Dalby 41, Warwick 41.
