YOUR SAY: Readers put the brakes on speed limit

READERS have had their say on plans to extend the 60kmh zone on Glen Rd, with strong opinions on whether it would have an affect on the hoons in the area.

Some readers questioned whether the speed limit would actually be enforced.

Darryl Evans said with the radars on Wood, Albion, Victoria and Wallace, he doubted Glen Rd would get much focus.

"Everyday I watch the trucks rattle along Warwick -Allora Road into the 60k zone after coming off a 100 hardly slowing at all or ramming on their brakes at the last minute - never seen a radar or a ticket issued yet," he wrote.

"Funny, allot of the trucks are regular local trucks - I know because I can see the sign writing."

Paul Jones suggested making it a 50km zone on the earlier part.

"Or setting up a speed camera to catch the hoons that ignore 60 and do burnouts whenever it rains?," he wrote.

Residents in that area also recounted tales of nearly being taken out by speeding drivers.

Nicholas Glasgow said he had concerns about Newby St off Glen rd, which had an end of 60 sign.

"It's dangerous - the amount of times I've nearly been wiped out coming out of my driveway from drivers doing more than 100km on such a short stretch of road that's only one car lane wide," he wrote,
