IN 45 days, hundreds will tie up their show laces for the 11th Warwick Pentath and for the 11th time in a row Georgie Stewart will take to the starting line.

The experienced runner said over the 11 years there had only been two times she did not compete in all five events.

"I really enjoy the challenge, the variety and getting to catch up with all my running friends at least once a year," Mrs Stewart said.

"It is just good fun."'

Mrs Stewart said over the years she had become less competitive.

"I guess my priorities have changed," she said. "I have been getting in three runs a week, which is enough. But I'm not as competitive as I used to be.

"I'm still going to give it a go though. You look forward to it but you don't. Because you know when you get started it is really going to hurt. But it is also a good feeling when you finish."

Over the 11 years Mrs Stewart has collected a number of prizes.

"I won the female age group three times, the Southern Downs fastest female twice and second overall in the half," she said. "I came third overall in the open division the last time I did all five events in 2011."

Nominations for this year's Pentath are open.

All you have to do is head to the Warwick Pentath website and follow the prompts.

The five events are 1500m, 4.6km, 5km, 10km and a 21.1km race.

If you are competing in this year's event, the Warwick Daily News would like to hear from you.
