Ready to ride up storm for charity

STORM King Dam will become a sea of wheels when its charity bike ride returns on Sunday.

Organiser Dan Cuthbert said entries were still open for That Dam Ride, which will benefit local charity through Stanthorpe Lions.

"We'd definitely like some more entries,” Mr Cuthbert said.

"We can take entries right up to and including the day.

"I just encourage people to come and enjoy Stanthorpe.”

Mr Cuthbert said there were some challenging route options for seasoned cyclists, along with more manageable rides for those less experienced on their bikes.

For those game to brave the heat and an early morning on Sunday, there are 20, 45, 70 and 125km options.

He said lunch would be provided with entry and there would be water along the two longer rides.

"We encourage people to bring their own water but there will be water on the two longer rides,” Mr Cuthbert said.

"The ride's suited to anyone, from novices to experienced riders.”

Due to high temperatures, ride times have been brought forward.

The 125km ride will begin no later than 6am, 70km ride is from 6.30am, 45km ride from 7am and the 20km ride from 7.15am.
