After playing in just two events this year, Warwick player Cameron Shepherd is looking forward to saddling up his horse and taking to the polocrosse field this weekend.

Although they have no riding members, the Killarney Polocrosse Club will host the event.

"Killarney is one of the best places in the country to play at, it's a really good venue," Shepherd, who has played for Queensland and Australia, said.

"We went to Walcha in early April and then we played in Warwick (in the Barastoc Interstate Polocrosse Series) in mid April.

"But we had last weekend at Clifton washed out, and the Gold Coast tournament at Killarney as well.

"I've won a few tournaments at Killarney before so it would be nice to add another one."

With the 2016 National Championships in Albury just under one year away, Shepherd said all the players would look to impress this weekend.

"I'm sure we're all being watched already, so I - and all the other players - will look to put their best foot forward," he said.

"The National Championships are something we all want to play in.

"We've also got a few young players, so it will be a really good experience.

"It will be a good chance for them to get out there and practice their skills."
