Record tumbles as ladies race to victory on Boxing Day
RACING: It was a ladies day at Allman Park on Saturday, with female jockeys winning all but one race during the Warwick Turf Club's Boxing Day races.
Sunshine Coast jockey Tiffani Brooker had back-to-back wins.
She stormed home on Real Favulous to break a track record.
The five-year-old gelding charged home to win the feature race of the day - the Country Queensland Showcase - in a record time of 1:09.24.
The win was the second in a row for the horse-jockey combination in Warwick.
Just last month Brooker rode Real Favulous to a win in the Allora Cup at Allman Park.
Brooker also rode Champagne Tales to a win in the PSP Video Class 4 Handicap on Saturday.
Trainer Ben Currie said he was pleased with how the six-year-old gelding ran.
"It was a good win," he said.
"It's good to a win here at Warwick - I've got a lot of family out here."
Toowoomba jockey Brooke Stower also rode two winners.
Warwick trainer Les Clarke had a win in the final race of the day, with his horse Ollie Runs Riot coming home in a close finish.
The six-year-old gelding edged out the Wattle Brae Stud-bred Quality Man by a nose to win the Brian Bunch Plumbing Class 2 Handicap.
Clarke said the gelding had a good run.
"I'm just pleased he lasted - a couple of metres more and he might not have done it," he said.
"I was hoping he would have done it."
Ollie Runs Riot was ridden by Nanango jockey Hannah Phillips.
