Records broken for Pentath-run numbers for May 20-21
RUNNING: Nomination numbers have passed 750 for the Daily News Pentath-run on May 20-21.
Event director Neil Burtenshaw said there was no doubt the numbers competing would set new records, particularly those doing all five events.
"We have more than 300 doing all five events, which is 100 more than the record,” he said.
"The odds are there will be another 30 or 40 nominations for all five events.”
Nominations are still being accepted at www.pentathrun.com.
Burtenshaw said with the extra nominations there would be tighter controls on traffic on the road from Warwick to Yangan from 6.30am-9am on the Saturday and from 6.30pm-8am on the Sunday from Killarney to Queen Mary Falls.
"We have been discussing safety requirements with Queensland Police, Queensland Transport and Main Roads and will have traffic controllers on the two roads during Pentath-run,” Burtenshaw said.
The 15th anniversary dinner at Warwick Christian College looks like it could be a sell-out, with 127 tickets already sold.
"Tickets available on the website from 5pm dinner on the Saturday, which starts with presentations for first three races,” he said.
World cycling gold medallist John Eder is guest speaker.
