Red Cross celebrates decade in Rose City

VOLUNTEER Kay Jones says working at the Red Cross shop has changed her life.

"I've been volunteering for eight years and I've met many wonderful people," she said.

On Tuesday the shop celebrated 10 years in Warwick.

"We held a celebration to say thank you to all the volunteers," she said.

"We've got 22 of them and some have been here almost as long as me.

"Working for Red Cross means a lot, I feel proud because of the work the charity does all over the world."

Mrs Jones said Christmas was the busiest time and donations were still needed.

"It's a good feeling knowing we can help someone," she said.

"I remember a while back when a family of five came in after their house burnt down.

"We weren't able to give them much but we gave them each a change of clothes.

"It was a big deal for them because they had nothing left."

If you would like to donate your time to the Red Cross pop into the store in Grafton St. The shop is opposite Target.
