Red team curse continues

ANOTHER contestant has fallen to the curse of the red team on MasterChef.

After the seemingly jinxed team lost yet another challenge, Victorian automotive detailer Mario Mohorko was the latest amateur cook sent home from the competition.

The 40-year-old faced elimination alongside team mates Kylie Millar, Amina Elshafei, Tregan Borg, Deb Sederlan, Filippo Silvestro, Emma O'Shaughnessy, Sam Davis and Julia Taylor after they failed to impress in the 24-hour Shangri-La hotel catering challenge.

In the rapid-fire elimination challenge, the contestants were allowed to cook whatever dishes they wanted.

Mohorko's round one Carbonara and round two Thai salad with shredded egg both failed to impress the judges.

The third and final round stretched both Mohorko and Queenslander Taylor to their limits but in the end the dessert queen was safe.

Mohorko was let down by the thick-cut meat and unripe fruit in his white peach and prosciutto salad with red wine vinaigrette.

In tomorrow's MasterClass, judges Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris serve up lamb ribs, apple straddle and quail.

MasterChef airs Sundays at 7.30pm and week days at 7pm on Ten.
