Redbacks big winners in Walker's 50th
IT WAS a game they wanted to win for a number of reasons, and one of them was to lift for a milestone game.
Shane Walker laced the boots up for his 50th appearance for the Warwick Redbacks, with parents Judith and Robin in the crowd.
Mrs Walker said her husband and herself were very proud of her son's achievement.
"It's an incredible feeling to see Shane run out there,” Mrs Walker said.
"To play 50 games in the seniors with mild cerebal palsy is a big achievement, and a credit to how Shane carries himself.
"We're also very proud that he has been named to represent Queensland in the Inclusion Games next week on the Gold Coast.”
Judith Walker helps out in the canteen, and is indicative of the community spirit that the club has formed.
"The club has been so welcoming since we've come here, which is great,” she said.
"We're so grateful to be involved in a team such as the Redbacks.”
On the field, the Redbacks came away with a resounding 17.15 (117) to 6.5 (41) victory over the Dalby Swans.
The win provides breathing space between top of the table Warwick and second-placed Dalby, with just a few rounds of the regular season remaining.
A solid team effort will give the Redbacks plenty of confidence as they head into the business end of the season.
