Redbacks face Tigers in Aussie rules in Toowoomba
AUSSIE RULES: No-one can over-estimate the importance of Saturday's match between the Warwick Redbacks and Toowoomba Tigers at Rockville Oval from 2.30pm.
"We play Tigers for the first time this season,” club president Ben Lubben said.
"Our team is just out of the top four so it is a key game, we need to make sure we win each game to the end of the season.
Forward Ben Heppell is out for a second week with family commitments.
Lubben said coach Peter Millard was talking positively to his team about what can be accomplished this season.
"We have to focus on what we can do rather than what other clubs will do,” he said.
After the game against Tigers today, Warwick will have a weekend off and then play South Burnett in Warwick on July 14 in a game which could determine finals' spots.
This will be held on the day a charity ball will be held at the Warwick Town Hall to raise funds for headspace Warwick.
The Redbacks are involved helping to run the ball as a community project.
All games in AFL Darling Downs are played over four 25-minute quarters with no time for stoppages.
Golf day
Redbacks will hold the club annual golf day on Sunday.
The four-ball ambrose, at the Warwick Golf Club, and bookings can still be made at the pro shop on 46613664.
An ambrose is perfect for non-golfers as each player hits from the spot deemed the best position of each of the four team members' prior shots.
Lubben hopes most players will nominate for the golf.
The Langham Slashers Golf Club will not play its normal Sunday morning round this week as some members will play in the Redbacks' event.
