Redbacks ready to do battle

WITH two solid training runs under their belts the Warwick Credit Union Redbacks are physically ready to take on the winners of the preliminary final between archrivals Coolaroo and USQ being played today at Rockville Oval.

Fitness and physicality are of no concern to the coaching staff or selection committee.

Keeping the player's heads out of the clouds and their feet on the ground could be a concern.

There is a lot of experience in this squad, the youth is top class and the teamwork has moulded together at the right time of the season.

The excitement and reality of making the grand final is at this stage showing no signs of nerves among the players and if the squad can keep this attitude through the next week they will be hard to beat.

James McKendry, at 17 years of age, is showing maturity far beyond his age.

Tall, speedy Brent Walker is getting better with every outing and Tim Tate's class shows out in both defence and attack.

The onfield leadership provided by Alex Cutmore, Brendan Iles, Tyhe Clarkson and Kurt Millard has been an integral part of the season's success and the defensive six are tighter than the proverbial.

Injury concerns at this stage are down to just two, Kurt Millard (hamstring) and Andrew Politch (corked thigh). Both players are being handled accordingly and are expected to pass fitness tests later next week.

Selection concerns, 22 spots for a 30 player availability.

Warwick Credit Union Redbacks are hoping that the sponsors and advertisers in their handbook will get behind the Reddies and throw up a few ribbons and basic red and blue decorations.

Let the players know that they have your support and they will do everything possible to bring home that very elusive A-grade premiership trophy to Warwick.
